Having supportive and challenging conversations as a line manager can be tricky, and you may avoid them for that reason. This course will equip you with the necessary skills to have those conversations.

Course outline

This e-learning course looks at occasions when we might need to have supportive and challenging conversations with our individual staff. This course looks at the role of the manager and identifies the necessary skills required to have such conversations.

Course objectives

In this elearning course, you will: 

  • consider your previous experiences and challenges
  • recognise the planning and preparation required
  • reflect on how your own emotions may need to be managed
  • recognise the skills required.

Suitable for

Managers, task leaders, team leaders, and supervisors.

Format

iLearn module Supportive and Challenging Conversations

Online Workshop - Available on Demand

A 2 hour online Workshop is available to attend, subject to demand. 

The purpose of this course is to give you a safe space to reflect on your experiences as a manager, and to consider best practice techniques through case studies.

You must complete the Supportive and challenging conversations iLearn module before you submit a nomination form. You will not be added to the waiting list or invited to attend a workshop until you have completed this e-learning module.

Once you have completed the course, if you would like to register your interest in attending an online workshop, please complete the Course Nomination Form and you will be added to our waiting list.
