Children's Services and I Am Me Colleagues triumph at COSLA Excellence Awards 2023

A remarkable achievement in the category for Tackling Inequalities and Improving Health and Wellbeing

Image of Children's Services and I Am Me colleagues with their award at COSLA Excellence Awards 2023 Congratulations to our Children's Services and I Am Me colleagues for their well-deserved win at last night's Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA) Excellence Awards in Crieff

Their collaborative work in the development and delivery of an alcohol and substance awareness education resource for children and young people has topped this year's category for Tackling Inequalities and Improving Health and Wellbeing.

I Am Me charity manager Carol Burt shared her delight in receiving the prestigious award:

"We are thrilled that Renfrewshire has been recognised for this fantastic collaborative resource, which is now being used across Scotland.

"There was a total of 892 people involved in the design, development and testing of the resource, with ten individuals sharing their own stories. The personal and realistic element they brought has helped young people to better understand the journey through drug and alcohol use, addiction, and recovery.

"We will continue to work with partners to build on the suite of resources we now have, helping children and young people in Scotland, to keep safe."

"We are delighted to have won the award for "Tackling Inequalities and Improving Health and Wellbeing" Award for our Alcohol and Substance Awareness Education Resource.  The quality of the resource could not have been achieved without the involvement of our pupils, staff, colleagues in health and the police and also those who shared their real life stories."

Health and wellbeing development officer, Fiona White also celebrates this outstanding example of our values in action. She added:

"We are delighted to have won the award for our Alcohol and Substance Awareness Education Resource.  The quality of the resource could not have been achieved without the involvement of our pupils, staff, colleagues in health and the police and also those who shared their real life stories."
