Renfrewshire's Centre Strategies

Centres are at the heart of Renfrewshire's communities and are hubs for a range of activities. Many people live and work in centres and it is important for the local economy that our centres thrive and meet the needs of residents, businesses and visitors.

The Council has prepared Centre Strategies for Erskine, Johnstone, Linwood, Renfrew and Braehead Strategic Centre.

The strategies reflect Scottish Planning Policy in promoting a 'Town Centre First' approach, supporting the health of our centres and delivering proposals set out in the Renfrewshire Local Development Plan.

Draft Centre Strategies were prepared in spring 2015 to form the basis of consultation with local communities and key stakeholders. A Consultation on the Draft Centre Strategies took place between summer 2015 and early 2016.

A summary of the representations received from these consultations was presented to the Planning and Property Policy Board in January 2016 and can be viewed in the related content.

To support the consultation exercise for Erskine, funding was secured from the Scottish Government to deliver a design charrette in February 2016. A report summarising the outcomes of the design charrette for Erskine is available in the related content.

All comments received during these consultations have been taken into consideration when preparing the Finalised Centre Strategies.

The Finalised Centre Strategies have now been approved by the Board and can be viewed in the related content.
