Want to learn more about our organisation and the important topics of the day? RenTalks is a series of virtual learning sessions, bringing you key insights from different people across the council and our partners.

Join us on Microsoft Teams for these friendly sessions where you will hear from and interact with our expert speakers, get the answers to your questions and discuss lots of helpful topics.

With a combination of sessions sessions for all colleagues and sessions for managers, on everything from cyber security, taking care of our wellbeing, employee benefits; to the environment, our values, the future of our digital experience and much more, there's plenty to learn about and discuss.


RenTalks coming soon

Let's Talk Menopause: 22 October, 11am-12.30pm
Ruth Devlin, from Let's Talk Menopause, returns with an info-packed session on why lifestyle choices play such an important role when coping with menopausal symptoms, alongside other healthcare matters and complementary therapies. She will also introduce Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) as a tried and tested technique to help manage some of the psychological symptoms of menopause.

Stress Awareness: 06 November, 4-4.45pm
Development officer—health and wellbeing, Fiona Hewitt, is hosting this session on National Stress Awareness Day to help colleagues recognise the signs of stress and learn ways to cope when it's impacting your wellbeing.

Insights to CBT: 14 November, 11-11.45am
We are joined once again by Ruth Devlin and Dr Becky Smith for a RenTalk dedicated to learning about Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). In this session, Ruth and Becky will introduce you to the basic concepts and techniques behind CBT and will help you identify how you can use these to address negative thinking patterns as well as breathing techniques and other practical exercises to help improve brain function.

Time for Talking: 20 November, 2-3pm
Meet therapist and CEO of our employee counselling service Time for Talking, Kevin McGeever, in this session about managing your work-life balance. Kevin will talk about practical tips and tricks to juggle work and life to help you achieve a happier and healthier balance without feeling overwhelmed.

RenTalks take place on Microsoft Teams and if you have a council email address, invitations sessions will be sent directly to you.

If you don't have a council email address, don't worry, we can send invites to your personal email account too. Just send an email to internalcommunications@renfrewshire.gov.uk and let us know which sessions you are interested in.

Reasons to host a RenTalk

By sharing your expertise with others, you'll have the opportunity to make new connections and help coworkers learn something new.

RenTalk sessions are an ideal platform to inform and engage with your colleagues across the Council. It's a chance to contribute and talk about what matters to you. You can use it to:

  • share advice and key information you want your colleagues to know
  • help others in the organisation connect with you the right way
  • set realistic ideas and expectations about your service
  • dispel any myths or wrong ideas about your service or how you work
  • make new contacts, learn about other services and build good working relationships

Hosts are provided with the tools they need to create memorable and engaging RenTalks and are supported by the internal communications team to promote their session.
