About the outdoor play spaces survey
We're currently assessing the locations and quality of outdoor play spaces available for young people and families across Renfrewshire.
Play spaces we are assessing include:
- equipped play areas
- bike and skate parks and tracks
- ball game courts
- multi-use game areas (MUGAs)
- outdoor fitness areas.
This is part of the ongoing work towards forming our new Local Development Plan. The plan will set out strategy and proposals for the use of land and buildings in Renfrewshire up to 2038 and beyond.
How to share your views
We're looking for young people, parents and carers, community councils and other community groups to share their views as part of this assessment.
We want to know what you think about the play spaces in your area and across Renfrewshire.
Your answers will help us make decisions on how we can improve outdoor play opportunities in the area.
You can share your views on play opportunities in your local area in our online survey. Please complete the survey that best fits you or your group:
- survey for nursery and primary school pupils
- survey for secondary school pupils
- survey for parents and carers
- survey for community councils and community groups.
We've also created a survey map where you can comment on specific play spaces in Renfrewshire:
The deadline to complete the surveys is Friday 13 June 2025.
If you're not able to complete the online survey on play opportunities across Renfrewshire as a whole, you can request a paper copy by emailing localplanconsultation@renfrewshire.gov.uk.
What happens next
The findings will be published as a Play Sufficiency Assessment, which will consider the quality and distribution of play opportunities across Renfrewshire.
Your views will inform this Play Sufficiency Assessment and will be included in its publication later in 2025.
