Our Team Up to Clean Up Team were among the winners at this year's Provost's Community Awards taking home the inaugural Provost's Award for Outstanding Achievement.

Nicola Drummond and Glen Reid from the Community Learning and Development team were joined by 14 Team Up to Clean Up volunteers at the awards ceremony last Friday to celebrate their win.

Nicola said: "It's so lovely for the volunteers to be recognised and valued for all the hard work they deliver daily in our communities.  The Provost said some lovely words of support, showing the volunteers that she, and the wider Council really appreciate the huge difference they make locally.  As well as being treated to some lovely food and drink, the singing by Starlight Musical Youth Theatre was exceptional.

"A truly magical night all round!"

The Provost's Community Awards were first established in 1997 by former Provost Nancy Allison and have been continued by each subsequent Provost, recognising more than 100 deserving community members for their commitment and devotion.

Every year members of the community are invited to nominate their unseen heroes across the award categories—community group, community volunteer, employee of the year, arts and culture, and sport.

The Provost's Award for Outstanding Achievement was introduced by Provost Lorraine Cameron, this year, to recognise one nomination out of all categories who have gone above and beyond for their community.
