Where to find electric car charging points

You can check charge point locations, type, charging costs and availability of the council's charge points on the ChargePlace Scotland website.

There are three types of charging points:

  • Standard (7kW) - for charging vehicles when they can be left for longer periods of time. This might be in residential areas for people who do not have off-street parking or for commuters near Rail Stations.
  • Fast (22kW) - for when a vehicle needs a substantial charge over a period of up to three hours. This might be in residential areas for people who do not have off-street parking or close to shops and community facilities.
  • Rapid (22-50kW) - when a vehicle needs a substantial charge quickly, often in town and village centres.

You can find out more about charging your electric car on the ChargePlace Scotland website.

Charging points are owned by different organisations and costs will vary. You should check the owner's website and the signs placed on the charging points.
