St Fergus' Primary School is the first Renfrewshire school to achieve 10 Green Flag awards.
The Eco-Schools Green Flag is a two-year process. The award celebrates the commitment of schools to learn about and protect the environment.
Pupils and staff at St Fergus' celebrated their achievement with a Wear It Green day. Children also showcased their environmental credentials with eco activities. They went on litter picks, planted seeds, and made eco posters.
Primary 5 pupils made pledges on small acts of change they can make to save the environment.
Their celebrations follow years of work by pupils and staff to encourage care for the earth.
Charlene Pirrie, class teacher, said:
We are absolutely delighted. Achieving our 10th Eco-Schools Green Flag is a truly special milestone for our school. The children have led the way with their incredible enthusiasm and dedication to look after the planet.
We couldn't be prouder of our students' commitment to protecting the environment. They've shown that small change can make a big difference. We see this work as an expression of God's love in action, caring for the world we've been given and for one another.
Councillor Emma Rodden, Education Convener for Renfrewshire Council, praised the school's success. She said:
Everyone should be incredibly proud of this fantastic achievement. To become the first school in Renfrewshire to achieve 10 Eco-Schools Green Flag awards is a real milestone. It reflects the years of hard work and commitment from pupils, staff, and the wider school community.
It’s great to see young people taking such an active role in protecting the environment. Learning about small acts of change will make a big difference. What St Fergus' do is a fantastic example of how schools can inspire positive change.
