What the consultation is
We've currently identified 3 possible locations to build a new Trinity High School.
We're also continuing to look for other potential suitable sites.
About the new school
The new Trinity High School will:
- be built for a capacity of 1,400
- have high-quality modern learning and teaching facilities
- include an outdoor, artificial full-size sports pitch
- provide 300m2 of community space.
We're working with architects, school staff and pupils to develop the detail of what spaces and facilities will be included in the new school.
Identifying the new school location
Trinity needs to be in a different location as the current school site is too small to build on.
The location needs to be:
- at least 20 acres
- easy to get to by public transport and by walking and cycling
- able to meet planning policies and be suitable land to build a school on
- affordable and deliverable.
We're looking at all potential council and privately owned locations in the school catchment. Council owned sites are prioritised as it’s more likely we can build a new school on them.
You can see the sites we have considered so far in our outline business case (page 159 of this report to our education board).
We’ve currently identified 3 suitable locations and are also continuing to look for other
potential suitable sites.
If we identify a suitable option, we'll bring it to our Education Board in 2027 then carry out this same location consultation.
3 potential locations
We’ve currently identified 3 suitable locations:
- Barwood, Erskine
- East Craigend, Erskine
- part of King George V playing fields, Renfrew.
You can view each location, see block plans showing how a school might fit, and complete the survey to give your feedback.
Why we’re consulting
Building a new Trinity High School is part of our major strategic investment in Renfrewshire schools, providing the best possible learning environments and enhancing community facilities.
A new Trinity is needed because of its current condition and to make sure it is suitable to meet future demand.
We want to gather people’s views on the potential locations to help inform the preferred option.
