Aileen Byrne
"The work I do in supporting our foster carers is both complex and deeply rewarding. Our foster carers are all different and offer unique care to some of our most vulnerable children. They are individuals and families who all have some things in common: they are passionate, loving and hard working. The care and love they provide for children is key in achieving positive outcomes for our children.
"Our own foster carers have told us how rewarding being a foster carer is. They get as much out of it as children and young people get from being loved, cared and respected."
Renfrewshire's foster carers provide loving homes to children and young people who can't stay with their families for a variety of reasons. Aileen is always on hand to provide extensive support to the foster carers she works with, offering helpful advice and the reassurance of being only a text or phone call away.
"My role in supporting foster carers is to offer them guidance and support they need to navigate many aspects of fostering, whilst allowing them to do what they do best, which is provide children with a loving and nurturing childhood.
"Working with foster carers is a privilege. No two families are the same. No two days are the same. But as part of the team around our children, we are all working to one goal: to realise a child's right to a good and loving childhood by offering support to their family—whether it be the one they are born into or not."
Fostering is one way Renfrewshire helps ensure all children grow up loved, respected and cared for as part of our commitment to Keep The Promise to all care-experienced children and young people.
