Who this programme is for

This programme is aimed at current and aspiring First line managers working at Renfrewshire Council and our partner organisations, who influence the way their team delivers a continuously improving service.

You will learn how to build capacity through leadership and successfully lead your team to deliver high quality services that contribute to organisational priorities.

Successful completion of the written assessments leads to CMI Level 3 Certificate in Principles of Management and Leadership.

How long it takes

This programme takes approximately 10 months to complete. 

By taking part in it, you commit to:

  • the entire duration of the programme
  • self-study
  • attending all Workshops which are mandatory, and for their entire duration (minimum of 90% attendance is required)
  • undertaking all e-learning modules and Workbooks in the timescales given
  • self-study
  • group work activities.

Delivery and assessment

A blended approach to delivery, which will include a combination of trainer-led online mandatory Workshops delivered through Microsoft Teams interactive e-learning through iLearn, self-study, and group work activities, so you can build your network as you learn.

You will need a computer or laptop with a working microphone and camera to fully take part in the learning and activities.

You will submit 2 written assessments (each approximately 2,000 to 2,500 words), which will assess your knowledge and skills about the principles of management and leadership and how to manage a team to achieve results.

All assessments should be completed in your own time and must be submitted on the given date. 

How much it costs

The cost of this programme is £500 which will be paid by your Service, if you are approved to take part. Should you be removed or withdraw from the programme, this fee is non-refundable.

Make sure you've got your Line manager and Budget holder's permission before applying.

How to apply

Discuss your interest in the programme with your Line manager in the first instance and obtain Budget holder approval before applying. 

Once you have their support, you can apply for the Influence programme.
