Who this programme is for

This programme is for current managers of large teams with extensive management experience who are in a position to influence their team(s), and senior managers working at a strategic level working at Renfrewshire Council and our partner organisations, who create impact by shaping and setting the direction of their team(s), demonstrating personal agility and business resilience to achieve success.

Successful completion of the written assessments leads to the CMI Level 5 Certificate in Management and Leadership.

How long it takes

This programme takes approximately 13 months to complete.

By taking part in it, you commit to:

  • the entire duration of the programme
  • attending all Workshops which are mandatory, for their entire duration (minimum of 90% attendance is required)
  • undertaking all e-learning modules and Workbooks in the timescales given
  • self-study
  • group work activities outside of the Workshops.

Delivery and assessment

A blended approach to delivery, which includes a combination of trainer-led online interactive Workshops delivered through Microsoft Teams, interactive e-learning through iLearn, self-study, and group work activities, so you can build your network as you learn.

You will need a computer or laptop with a working microphone and camera to fully take part in the learning and activities.

You will submit 3 written assessments (each approximately 4,000 to 5,000 words), which will assess how you use data and information to make decisions, how you plan, procure, and manage resources, and the principles of innovation.

These will be completed in your own time, and must be submitted on the given date.

How much it costs

The cost of this programme is £650 which will be paid by your Service, if you are approved to take part. Should you be removed or withdraw from the programme, this fee is non-refundable.

Make sure you've got your Line manager and Budget holder's permission before applying.

How to apply

Please apply to be added to the waiting list for the next cohort, which is likely to be late 2024.

Please ensure that you have read the FAQs regarding the programme commitments to ensure that you are clear on the expectations before applying.

Discuss your interest in the programme with your Line manager in the first instance and obtain Budget holder approval before applying. 

Once you have their support, you can apply for the Impact programme.
