More free activities are available in Renfrewshire. Street Stuff, OneRen libraries and the Council’s summer camps are all part of Summer of Fun. The Council has also teamed up with the Tannahill Centre in Ferguslie. This will support more free places at the centre’s summer club.
Libraries have drop-in and play sessions. These include arts and crafts, treasure hunts, and the Summer Reading Challenge. There’s also British Sign Language (BSL) storytelling at Paisley Central Library. These activities are linked to from the Council’s website.
OneRen have an extensive Summer of Sport programme. It’s funded by Scottish Government & delivered by sportscotland. Activities include multi-sports, football, gymnastics, swimming, and more. They’re suitable for various ages and abilities. There’s a range of free and costed activities.
All Council-funded activities are free. Snacks or meals are provided for lengthier activities.
Councillor Jacqueline Cameron, Depute Council Leader and Chair of Renfrewshire Council’s Fairer Renfrewshire sub-committee, said:
Summer of Fun is much-loved by Renfrewshire families, children and young people. I’m pleased to once again see it return. It offers people across Renfrewshire the chance to have fun for free.
Making summer a memorable experience is important. With higher costs of living being experienced by local families, having free fun activities has never been more important.
The programme is made possible by our amazing community groups. Their activities build on those provided by the Council, OneRen and other partners. This ensures a wide variety of activities and events are available.
I would encourage all families to check out what is on offer by visiting our website.”
