Train
Paisley Gilmour Street train station is less than 10 minutes’ walk from the site and runs regular services to and from Glasgow, Renfrewshire, Ayrshire and Inverclyde.
Bus
McGill’s has various services in and around Paisley, with over 70 buses each hour serving Paisley town centre. Plan your journey on McGill’s free app, to find the best service and view your bus arriving to the stop in real time.
Car
Paisley town centre is just a 12-minute drive from Glasgow city centre via the M8 motorway which travels through Renfrewshire on its Greenock / Glasgow / Edinburgh route.
The closest public car parks to the festival site are Orchard Street, Lonend, School Wynd, and the Lagoon Leisure Centre. Please be considerate to our neighbours and don’t park in residential parking spaces.

Features
- Waste reduction and recycling We are committed to reducing waste and promoting recycling at this event. We encourage you to recycle your waste in the coloured bins provided across the event site. Our food and drink traders are committed to no use of single-use plastics, in favour of compostable products where possible.
- Local traders and suppliers To help reduce transport and travel emissions, as well as to boost the local economy, many festival traders and suppliers are local to Renfrewshire. Our traders are encouraged to use locally-produced and seasonal ingredients.
- Sustainable transport Paisley has lots of great transport links with fast train routes to Glasgow and beyond and regular local bus routes. Parking is limited around Paisley town centre so it could be easier and cheaper to take public transport.
Accessibility
- Toilets and accessible toilets Toilet locations around the site and each location includes an accessible toilet. There will be a mobile Changing Place located on Cotton Street next to the accessible viewing area.
- Accessible parking Blue Badge parking available in the Paisley Centre (Horizon) and the Piazza shopping centre car parks.
- Assistance dogs Assistance dogs are welcome to attend, but please remember the event will be busy. If your dog isn’t used to loud noises and crowds, they may be best left at home.
- Bringing a pram There is no general on-site pram parking for this event.
- Baby changing There will be baby changing facilities within each of the accessible toilets located at Cotton Street and Abbey Close.
- Quiet spaces A quiet space marquee will be available at the corner of Bridge Street and Abbey Close.
- Mobility support services Shopmobility Renfrewshire offer the day hire of wheelchairs, powerchairs and electric scooters. Shopmobility are located on the ground floor of the Paisley Centre Car Park on Storie Street, PA1 2AP. This is a paid car park and will stay open until 10pm on both nights of the festival, provided by Horizon Parking. You can also contact the Shopmobility team in advance on 0141 889 0441 or email admin@shopmobilityrenfrewshire.org.uk.
- Sound and noise As with any large-scale event, the festival site can get quite loud. There will be a mixture of music, ambient noise, singing and talking. Noise can also echo off nearby buildings.
- Food and drink Food and drink vendors will be located in Abbey Close.
- Funfair There will be small fairground rides located on Bridge Street, which is a flat, tarmacked area.
- Stage and street performances There will be a stage located in Abbey Gardens. The stage will be on a raised platform to help with sightlines. Street performances will take place in the Abbey Gardens, which is grass, and Abbey Close area, which is cobbled with a small curbed section, which will be marked in yellow.
- Parade route The parade will start at 12pm, leaving from Brodie Park and ending in Abbey Close, and last approximately 60 minutes. The parade will take in Neilston Road, Causeyside Street, St Mirren Street, High Street, Gauze Street, and Cotton Street. There is plenty of capacity along the streets, and great spaces to view the parade.
- Site description Sma' Shot Day 2026 takes place across several streets and open areas in Paisley town centre. Most surfaces are hard and paved, with typical road surfaces and pavements.

Starts Brodie Park. Ends Abbey Close.
Co-ordinated by Bridgeman Arts in collaboration with local community groups, performers and musicians, the parade brings to life the traditional weavers' celebration and tells some exciting, undiscovered stories of their past.
Look out for a special anniversary banner celebrating 40 years since the event's revival.
Burning of the Cork
2pm-2.15pm
A Sma' Shot Day tradition - the annual 'burning of the cork'. The 'cork' represents the middleman in the famous dispute between the weavers and the mill owners for payment of the sma' shot thread, in which the weavers were victorious.
Preceded by a performance from Shaun Moore, Tannahill Makar, and followed by celebratory dance performance by young people from right2dance.

Drop-in activities
Big Feed will animate the area outside the Town Hall with an offering featuring: hot food: El Dorado Taqueria (Mexican street food) and Hector & Harriet (artisan coffee and crepes), and market traders: GPS Vintage, 3D Stepper, Scotia Seaglass, Carvictures, Paisley Paws Dog Boutique, Stephanie Myler, Luna's Art, Flutterby Gift Boutique.
Sewing2gether All Nations 'Faces of Belonging' invites visitors to create a small self-portrait. The 'One Millie, All Nations' exhibition of over 30 completed handmade dolls created by refugee women during a series of sewing workshops using the linen tea-towel pattern designed by illustrator Sue Shields.
The Kairos Women+ workshop is a relaxed badge-making activity centred on social justice themes.
At ReMode’s Sewing Station, you can bring your t-shirts or garments to customize using various hand-embroidery and mending techniques, such as Sashiko stitching. Alternatively, you can create your own embroidered patches. No prior skills are required—just pop in to learn some hand sewing.
