About the event
Join us on Thursday 19 November for a festive evening packed with family entertainment, Christmas activities and seasonal fun at Tweedie Hall and across the surrounding area.
Enjoy live performances from local school children, an interactive Christmas panto, crafts, games walkabout entertainment and festive activities for all ages before the Christmas tree and town centre lights are switched on at 8.15pm.
Most activities are free, with a mix of drop-in events and pre-booked experiences available throughout the evening.
Event programme
Christmas party and pantomime
The heart of the activity is a festive concert and interactive pantomime in Tweedie's main hall from 6pm - 8pm.
The event includes:
- Performances by Woodlands Primary School Choir
- Christmas poems and stories from pupils at East Fulton Primary School
- Performances by Our Lady of Peace Primary School Choir
- Cheeky interactive entertainment from the Elf Trio
- The family-friendly 'Be Oor Guest' pop-up pantomime.
Complimentary mince pies, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and juice will be available.
Capacity is limited so booking is required.
Family activities
There will be lots of free activities taking place throughout the evening from 5.30pm, including:
Christmas Kids Disco
Drop in to the Lesser Hall for festive music, games, face painting and balloon modelling. Juice and gingerbread biscuits will be provided.
The Elf Trio will make an appearance between 7.30pm and 8pm.
Festive Lantern Making
Create your own festive lantern using recycled materials in partnership with Linwood War Memorial Association.
Bring your lantern outside to help create a magical atmosphere during the lights switch-on.
Giant Snow Globe
Step inside the giant snow globe and capture festive family photos. It'll be located outside Tweedie Hall.
Christmas at Linwood Library
Linwood Library will stay open late, offering festive arts and crafts activities for children and families.
Street entertainment
Keep an eye out for the Living Christmas Trees performing around the venue at 5.30pm and 7pm. They like to hide in plain sight!
The switch-on moment
Gather outside Tweedie Hall at 8.15pm for the Christmas lights being switched on.
Renfrewshire Council's Provost, alongside Santa and the winner of this year's Christmas Card competition, will help light up the Christmas tree and town centre.
