Winter Connections Programme Fund Open

Community groups and organisations across Renfrewshire are invited to apply for funding to run free activities that help connect people with others during the winter months.

Renfrewshire Council's Winter Connections Fund offers grants up to £2,000 to support local organisations to provide places  for people to come together and take part in activities.

The funding can be used to cover costs such as venue hire, food, equipment, cleaning and staffing. It is designed to help groups expand or enhance activities that support people during winter and create opportunities for regular connection within communities.

Activities could include lunch clubs with an activity, cooking sessions, craft groups, physical activity classes, music classes, digital skills support and film clubs.

Councillor Jaqueline Cameron, Depute Leader of Renfrewshire Council and Chair of the Fairer Renfrewshire Sub-Committee, said,

Winter Connections has become an important part of support available across Renfrewshire during the winter months. Helping local people connect with others in their communities through welcoming activities and events.

We know that local groups understand the needs of their communities better than anyone and this funding is there to help them deliver activities that are inclusive, accessible and welcoming to all. I would encourage any eligible organisation to apply and become part of this year’s Winter Connections programme.

To be eligible for funding, activities must be free to attend and provide opportunities for people to come together in a safe, welcoming environment. Groups are encouraged, where possible, to provide snacks, food and drinks alongside activities.

The fund is open to constituted voluntary and community organisations with a bank account.

Applicants can apply from 17 September with awards being made in mid-October.

Successful applicants will be promoted as part of the wider Winter Connections programme and will be asked to report on the impact of their project.
