The talent of Renfrewshire’s young musicians was recognised at a recent awards event.
The Young Musician of the Year award celebrates musical achievement of young people.
Caity from Paisley Grammar School won the regional heat for Renfrewshire. Carys from Renfrew High School was the runner up.
Eight more young people received certificates in recognition of their talents and achievements. The pupils were:
• Innes from Castlehead High
• Robbie from Gleniffer High
• Finlay from Gryffe High
• Evan from Johnstone High
• Orla from Park Mains High
• Marie-Claire from St Andrew’s Academy
• David from St Benedict’s High
• Victor from Trinity High.
Caity went on to attend the national finals. She had fierce competition with young musicians from across Scotland.
Archie and Laura from Renfrewshire Schools Pipe Band offered their support to Caity by performing for guests at the event.
There was tough competition at the event. While Caity did not win, reaching the finals is a significant achievement to be proud of.
