We are holding our first official Dolly Parton Day on 25 September. Our celebration of Dolly Parton and her Imagination Library has been approved by Dollywood Foundation UK.
Children, their families, communities and businesses are all invited to get involved.
You can email your Dolly celebration photos to be shared on Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Renfrewshire Facebook page. We will also share with media.
Put a butterfly in your window
The butterfly is Dolly Parton’s personal emblem. She loved butterflies from a young age. The butterfly is also the symbol of Dollywood Foundation.
You can download a template to print out and colour in.
You can also::
- draw, paint or make your own butterfly
- display a butterfly picture or object you already own.
Share your love of reading
The Imagination Library is all about developing a love of reading from a young age. We encourage everyone to share their favourite books with other people in your life or post about it online using #DollyLibraryRen.
Find books in your local area
Our nurseries will be setting up book trails for young children to find while out and about. Go out for a walk and explore. You never know what book you might find.
We encourage you to enjoy the book and leave it in a new hiding place. That way more children can experience the joy of finding a book outdoors.
Visit your local library
Head over to your local library for Bookbug sessions, to pick up a new book, and more.

There have been over 230,000 books given out so far, with many more to come. We are the first Scottish council to offer free books to all 2- to 5-year-olds.
