One of Renfrewshire’s schools has become the first to achieve two excellent grades in an inspection report.
Bridge of Weir Primary School and Early Learning and Childcare Class (ELCC) received the accolade from Education Scotland.
An excellent grade is the highest possible evaluation that can be achieved.
The grades were awarded to both ‘Learning, Teaching and Assessment’ and ‘Raising Attainment and Achievement’. They recognise the exceptional quality of education delivered across the school.
Three ‘very good’ grades were also awarded to the nursery.
Inspectors said children are highly motivated and take a proactive role in their learning. This supports children to develop their curiosity, creativity, independence and problem-solving skills.
Leadership by the headteacher and senior staff team is highly effective. The sharing of professional learning among the school and nursery was also praised.
Outdoor learning at the school and nursery is described as both high-quality and progressive. The programme supports children’s wellbeing and appreciation of nature.
Susan Bell, Headteacher, said:
The inspection report is a wonderful recognition of the collective effort of the whole school community. I am very proud of the children, their enthusiasm, confidence, kindness and willingness to take responsibility for their learning and their school. I am also incredibly proud of our staff team. The inspection result is a reflection of the community where people care deeply, work together and genuinely want the very best for every child. It is a shared success.
Councillor Emma Rodden, Renfrewshire Council’s Education Convener, said:
This is a fantastic achievement for Bridge of Weir Primary School and ELCC. Everyone at the school and nursery should be immensely proud of this result.
The two excellent grades are a remarkable endorsement of the hard work, dedication and commitment shown every day by staff, pupils and families.
I would like to congratulate everyone on this outstanding result. Their hard work is making a positive difference to their children.
All of Renfrewshire schools inspected over the past two years have received positive grades. Grades achieved have been Good, Very Good or Excellent.
Janie O’Neill, Director of Children’s Services, added:
This inspection result showcases the outstanding leadership within the school, the innovative and engaging learning experiences provided for children, and the impressive attainment and achievement of pupils.
I am incredibly proud of what has been achieved at Bridge of Weir Primary and ELCC, and also across Renfrewshire. Staff and pupils continue to work incredibly hard and this is reflected in the inspection result.
