More free parking in Paisley town centre for festive period

Free parking is being extended during December in Paisley town centre council car parks.

Parking is already free for up to one hour in council car parks and all on street spaces, while it’s free all day on Sundays.

Now, to provide an extra festive boost, it will be free to park for up to 2 hours in these council car parks between 1 December 2025 and 3 January 2026.

It’s a repeat of the scheme run last year designed to encourage more people to visit the town centre and spend local.

Renfrewshire Council Leader Iain Nicolson said:

We're extending free parking in Paisley town centre council car parks over the festive period to encourage more people to spend local.

Whether you’re coming to a concert, doing some last-minute Christmas shopping or meeting up for a meal, we hope the extra free parking will be a welcome boost.

Renfrewshire is home to so many fantastic businesses and spending your money locally is really important as we know around 70p from every pound spent local, stays in the local economy.

The extra free parking follows on from the hugely successful Paisley Halloween Festival which brought lots of people into the town.

It’s perfectly timed to support the packed OneRen Winter Wonderland programme which includes events in town centre venues like Paisley Town Hall and Paisley Arts Centre.

And Business Improvement District Paisley First have lots lined up this December including Paisley’s Small Business Saturday Christmas Market and Big Christmas Weekends.

How the free parking works

You need to display a ticket or register parking using RingGo whether you are parking for free or paying.

Take a ticket from the car park parking machine for 2 hours or register a virtual ticket if you’re using the RingGo app.

Cross Street South and Saucel Crescent car parks are only available using the RingGo app.

If you are parking for any longer than 2 hours then you’ll pay the standard costs.
The 2 hours free parking only applies to our Council car parks and does not include on-street parking.

Full details of the free parking arrangements and qualifying council car parks are being added to the car parks page on the council website
