Renfrew High School closure

Dear parent or carer

We are emailing you to let you know Renfrew High School is having to close today (Friday 5 December) due to a suspected gas leak. All children are safe and well.

Staff earlier this morning noticed a smell of gas within the building, and as a precaution all children and staff were immediately evacuated. Gas engineers have attended and advised they need more time to find the source of the leak.

As part of the evacuation, not all pupils will have their belongings and mobile phones with them, as these will still be in the building.

We are checking which pupils are able to get home safely. Those who can do so are being allowed to leave.

Those pupils who can’t, or who have important belongings in the school, will stay on site with staff until they can either be collected or we can access the building to retrieve their possessions.

The prelim exams scheduled for this afternoon will be rescheduled.

If you need to contact the school, you can do so via 07811 057 520 or 07811 057 903

Please be aware these phone lines will be busy and we appreciate your patience.

Kind regards
