Our current performance

Elected members and Council Boards are regularly provided with performance reports.

Our key performance reporting is focused on:

  • Council Plan 2022 to 2027
  • Public performance report (How we are doing)
  • Service-level performance
  • Benchmarking

Council Plan 2022 to 2027

The Council Plan describes our strategic priorities as a council, the actions we will take to deliver these, and some of the measures that will help demonstrate the improvements we make.

It sets out how we will work with our communities, our partners, and businesses to make Renfrewshire a great place to live, work and visit.

Our priorities are:

  • Place: working together to enhance wellbeing across communities
  • Economy: building an inclusive, green and resilient economy (matching people, skills and opportunities)
  • Fair: nurturing bright, happy and healthy futures for all
  • Green: leading Renfrewshire to Net Zero
  • Living Our Values: making a difference together.

We also have a cross-cutting theme running through the Council Plan - Improving outcomes for children and families.

The Leadership Board get progress reports on the Council Plan every six months.

Public performance report (How are we doing?)

All our services are here to make sure that everyone living in Renfrewshire enjoys a good quality of life. This performance report is designed to help you make your own judgement about how we are doing.

Every year, we report on our performance. Like other local authorities, we participate in the Local Government Benchmarking Framework, where we report our performance against 108 indicators to an organisation called the Improvement Service.

We also provide information about some projects, initiatives that the council and partners are delivering on.

See the latest public performance report.

Service-level performance

Each council service produces a Service Improvement Plan which sets out how they will contribute to the delivery of the Council Plan priorities.

These Service Improvement Plans are approved by Policy Boards and performance reports are provided twice a year.

See outturn reports on a full year's worth of activity for these services:

Services may also choose to provide additional updates on performance as needed. This will include everything from updates on how quickly phone calls are answered to an inspection report on a local school.

Benchmarking

Benchmarking allows us to compare our performance so that we can identify best practice, learn from each other, and improve what we do.

Local Government Benchmarking Framework

All 32 councils are measuring a common set of performance indicators called the Local Government Benchmarking Framework. This national framework brings together performance indicators from each local authority and provides benchmarking data on a wide range of key services such as education, housing, and adult social care.

We include this benchmarking information in our Public Performance Report (How are we doing?)

Find more information on the Local Government Benchmarking Framework website.

Other benchmarking

Services also use data from other sources to understand how we are doing compared with other organisations.

This can include statistical information all councils provide to the Scottish Government or to organisations such as the Scottish Housing Regulator.

We include some of these in our service improvement plans and other papers that are available in the meetings section of our Committee and Councillors website
