Statement of Licensing Policy (Alcohol Licensing)
What the Statement of Licensing Policy (Alcohol Licensing) is, consultation and your views on our licensing policy.
What the Statement of Licensing Policy (Alcohol Licensing) is
Our
sets out what we need to consider when processing liquor (alcohol) licence applications in Renfrewshire. This includes:
- licensing hours
- children and young persons access to licensed premises
- occasional licences
- extended hours
- areas in Renfrewshire that may have too many licences issued for the sale of alcohol (or for certain types of alcohol sales: for example, pub-type premises, off sales, etc).
Renfrewshire Licensing Board agreed the current Statement of Licensing Policy (Alcohol Licensing) 2018 to 2022 and it came into effect on 4 November 2018.
Consultation and your views on our licensing policy
The Licensing Board manages the applications for licences to sell alcohol in Renfrewshire.
The Board needs to agree and publish a new policy in 2023.
The Board has agreed the terms of an updated draft Statement of Licensing Policy 2023-2027 for the purpose of formal consultation. This can be found in the related content area at the righthand side of this page.
The Board has also agreed the terms of a consultation document or "Issues Paper" to assist consultees. This can be found in the related content area at the righthand side of this page.
At the meeting of the Board on 27 April 2023 the Board also agreed to identify a locality in Paisley Town Centre for the purposes of assessing overprovision. This area is currently declared overprovided by the Board in terms of "pub type" premises. The Board is also seeking views as to whether there is overprovision of alcohol licensed premises in this area. A plan of this area can be found in the related content area at the righthand side of this page.
The closing date for feedback and comments was Friday 21 July 2023.
When we have completed the consultation, the board will review all the feedback and publish a new licensing policy later in 2023.
It is intended to publish the responses received here on the Licensing Board's webpages.
Previous consultation on the policy
We carried out
to the Statement of Licensing Policy from December 2022 to February 2023.
