Statement of Licensing Policy (Alcohol Licensing)

What the Statement of Licensing Policy (Alcohol Licensing) is, consultation and your views on our licensing policy.

What the Statement of Licensing Policy (Alcohol Licensing) is

Our  Statement of Licensing Policy (Alcohol Licensing) [248KB]  sets out what we need to consider when processing liquor (alcohol) licence applications in Renfrewshire.

This includes:

  • licensing hours
  • children and young persons access to licensed premises
  • occasional licences
  • extended hours
  • areas in Renfrewshire that may have too many licences issued for the sale of alcohol (or for certain types of alcohol sales: for example, pub-type premises, off sales, etc).

Renfrewshire Licensing Board agreed the revised Statement of Licensing Policy (Alcohol Licensing) 2018 to 2022 and it came into effect on 4 November 2018.

Consultation and your views on our licensing policy

Our Licensing Board manages the applications for licences to sell alcohol in Renfrewshire.

The Board needs to agree and publish a new policy in 2023.

You can read our current  Statement of Licensing Policy (alcohol Licensing) [248KB]  and give us your feedback on it.

We want your views on:

  • the terms of a new licensing policy, including the ones listed above
  • areas of Renfrewshire where you think too much alcohol is sold in licensed premises
  • any other matters in the policy that you want to give your views on.

You can also look at a printed copy of the policy for free at the Customer Service Centre, Renfrewshire House, Cotton Street, Paisley.

Send your comments to Douglas Campbell:

  • by email at douglas.campbell@renfrewshire.gov.uk
  • in writing to the
    Licensing Board Consultation
    Clerk to the Licensing Board
    Renfrewshire Council, Renfrewshire House

The closing date for feedback and comments is Wednesday 15 February 2023.

After the closing date, we will begin a more detailed consultation where we will ask people to formally contribute to a new policy.

When we have completed the consultation, the board will review all the feedback and publish a new licensing policy later in 2023.
