Renfrewshire Council

Overgrown grass, hedges, shrubs and trees

Check our schedule of grass cutting; tell us about overgrown grass, trees, hedges or shrubs in your area; high hedges; and tree conservation.

We have a grass cutting and grounds maintenance schedule which you can check to see when our team will be in your area.

If the area isn't listed for grass cutting and grounds maintenance, let us know about overgrown grass, trees, hedges or shrubs.

What you need to tell us

You'll need to tell us:

  • if the issue is in a public place
  • if the issue is in your own garden if you get garden assistance from us
  • exactly where it is, if it's not your own garden
  • if it's an issue with grass, hedges, trees or shrubs
  • what the problem is
  • your contact details if we need more information about the issue.

You can also upload photos of the issue and the location if you have them.

Tell us about overgrown grass, trees, hedges or shrubs

What happens next

Once we receive your report, we'll investigate the issue.

We aim to resolve the issue within seven days or when the next maintenance visit is scheduled for that area.

If it's not in a public place or on council property, we can't fix it. If it is blocking a road, footpath or streetlight, we will contact the owners to cut it.

If it's an issue with road surface issues, roadside litter, overgrown grass verges or debris, you'll need to report the problem to AMEY, who are responsible for Scotland's South West trunk toads network.
