The main purpose of the register is to allow us to identify where potential sources or risk are (such as outbreaks of legionnaires' disease), and allow us to monitor and inspect them more easily.

How to register

Applicants should complete the registration form which is available in the related media section of this page. On request, a form will be forwarded to the applicant for completion by post.

The name and address of the company applying to register the cooling tower will be required along with the number of cooling towers to be registered.

On receipt of the application form the council will enter the cooling tower(s) onto the register. There is no cost to register. The application will be processed in 21 working days. There is no renewal procedure as registration is a one-off process.

Changes

Renfrewshire Council should be notified of any changes to cooling towers immediately so that we can keep the register updated.  Please submit any changes of circumstances to us as quickly as possible using the form found in the related media section of this page.

If you are refused registration

Any person aggrieved by a refusal to be granted a registration or by any conditions to which the registration is subject may appeal to the Sheriff who may give such directions regarding the registration or its conditions as it thinks proper.
