Mossvale Primary receives top marks in recent inspection

Mossvale Primary School and Early Learning and Childcare Class (ELCC) are over the moon after receiving a positive inspection from Education Scotland.

The school and nursery were inspected on learning, teaching and assessment and raising attainment and achievement. The nursery achieved two Very Good grades and the school one Very Good and one Good grade. The report noted how confident inspectors are that the school has capacity to continually improve.

Inspectors praised the strong, positive learning environment and the high levels of engagement children show in their learning.

Nursery children are described as motivated, curious, and eager to explore and learn. They have a stimulating and exciting environment and are developing well in their skills for life and learning.

Primary pupils know how well they are doing at school and are confident in discussing their learning and planning next steps.

Staff and senior leaders were commended for knowing their children well and ensuring children with additional support needs get the support they need at the right time.

Jane Houston, head teacher of Mossvale Primary and ELCC, said: "We are delighted with our very positive inspection report. It captures our school and ELCC perfectly as an inclusive community built on respect, positive relationships, nurture and has high aspirations for all.

"It clearly shows how children are at the heart of everything we do and Pupil Voice in their learning is recognised as good practice to be shared wider.

"The staff team are highly skilled and committed to improving outcomes for every child in our school community and I am so proud to be the head teacher of Mossvale Primary and ELCC."
