Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District Scotland (AMIDS)

The Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District Scotland will be an internationally recognised centre for innovation, research and manufacturing in Scotland's industrial heartland.

To help realise this vision, planning permission in principle has been secured to addresses common planning, environmental and statutory requirements for the site, with the aim of streamlining the process for potential developers. The Glasgow Airport Investment Area City Deal project will deliver the enabling infrastructure including the realignment of Abbotsinch Road, a new bridge across the White Cart and new cycle routes.

Located at the centre of Scotland's largest labour catchment (1.8 million population within the Glasgow city region) and alongside established businesses such as Rolls Royce, Vascutek and Thermo Fisher, make AMIDS the ideal investment opportunity.

It will be home to two new national innovation centres; the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland and the Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre which will be the catalyst for the development of Scotland's advanced manufacturing and life sciences sectors, providing support for businesses of all sizes and connecting all of Scotland's engineering universities and colleges.

  • Home to the £65million National Manufacturing Institute Scotland 

  • Home to to a £56million Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre

  • Location of the £9m Lightweight Manufacturing Centre to support the aerospace and automotive industries

  • Next to the University of Strathclyde's Advanced Forming Research Centre (AFRC), leading in research and development of manufacturing technologies
