How and where you can get free period products, what Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) is.

Free period products are available in several ways throughout Renfrewshire.

Period products sent to your home address

Given the current restrictions and closures caused by coronavirus (COVID-19), the best way to obtain period products right now is by phone. We also offer an online service, but due to delays with our suppliers caused by COVID 19, any orders made online will now not be processed until June.

You can call 0300 300 0230 and let us know you need to order period products. We'll take your name, address and number and call you back within 24 hours for details of your order. This will then be delivered to you normally within 1 week.

If your order is not urgent, tell us what you need by completing the free sanitary products form, taking care to provide full address details.  Once complete, a 3-month supply of products will be posted to your home address. This will not be processed until June due to current COVID 19 related delays, so please be aware of this when you order and try to order in advance if you can.

Please note you must live in Renfrewshire and have a Renfrewshire postcode to use this service.

Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS)

Toxic shock syndrome is a rare but life-threatening condition caused by bacteria getting into the body and releasing harmful toxins. It's often associated with tampon use in young women, but it can affect anyone of any age - including men and children. Using tampons can increase your risk of developing TSS, particularly if you leave them in for longer than recommended or you use "super-absorbent" tampons. Tampons should be changed regularly - please help yourself from our supplies so you have enough to allow you to do this. Visit NHS UK for more information.
