Grand Fountain 'We are the Walrus' film
Paisley's spectacular Grand Fountain was restored to its former glory in summer of 2014. The project won a number of national awards including The Institution of Mechanical Engineers Award for the Conservation of an Industrial Artefact in 2015.
In celebration of this award a film was created expressing what the judges found special about this particular restoration project - namely its huge impact on the community and how it "encapsulates the concept of engineering as both science and art, and provides a sense of pride and a feel-good factor. The people behind the restoration of this grand Victorian vision of civic joy demonstrate a belief that engineering enhances human well-being."
The 'We are the Walrus' film was created by STAR Project, one of the community partners in the Grand Fountain project. To view the film, click on the link.
The restoration project was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, Historic Environment Scotland and Renfrewshire Council and was delivered with support from local groups Friends of the Fountain Gardens and STAR Project.
