Renfrewshire Council

Survey Works at CWRR with Cllr Macmillan

Further Survey Works (Aug 2016)

The Clyde Waterfront & Renfrew Riverside (CWRR) and Glasgow Airport Investment Area (GAIA) projects are both at a similar stage; the work currently underway includes identifying possible locations for the bridges and associated roads, paths and cycle ways. These options are currently being refined and assessed in an appraisal process to establish the most appropriate and effective option that will deliver the best outcomes for all communities within the Glasgow City Region.

This August sees the start of further survey work aimed at gathering the information required to confirm the preferred alignments for the road and bridge infrastructure for Renfrewshire's City Deal projects.

Over the next 3 months, topographic and ground investigation surveys will take place at various locations within the project boundaries.

Affected landowners will be informed in advance of the surveys taking place.

The survey works may require temporary lane closures, but these will be kept to a minimum and scheduled outwith peak hours to minimise any inconvenience.

Earlier in the appraisal process a number of events were held to provide information and opportunities for public engagement. These included meeting Local Area Committees, Community Councils as well as public exhibitions to allow stakeholders and the general public to contribute to, and comment on, the various options and the emerging options. The first phase of consultation closed on 1st July to allow comments received to be considered by the project teams.

Thank you to everyone who attended the events and provided feedback. The information gathered was very much appreciated and is currently being considered as part of the appraisal process. The results from this will be published here as soon as they are finalised. Subscribe to our 'City Deal' mailing list (see botttom of this page) to be made aware of these updates.

Don't worry if you missed the opportunity to provide feedback - you can still see the latest plans on this website (see related documents section of project pages and public engagement news page.). There will also be further exhibitions and opportunities to provide feedback as the projects progress.

Due to the technical complexities and constraints involved, the Airport Access Project (AAP) has a significantly longer development process, with the scheme expected to be completed and operational by 2025.

Work currently underway for the AAP comprises identification of the preferred route and mode (e.g. Tram Train / Personal Rapid Transport). These will each be evaluated in an appraisal process to establish the best performing solution.

Businesses across the West of Scotland are being given the chance to have their say on the £144million Glasgow Airport Access Project (AAP), the centrepiece of the £1.13billion Glasgow City Region City Deal. The survey, which will be open until 2 September, is available here:

The opportunity for further information events and public engagement for the AAP will follow in due course.
