What business rates payments you can make online, paying in instalments, other ways to pay.

What business payments you can make online

You can make these business payments online:

  • rent
  • non-domestic rates
  • planning application
  • building standards enquiries
  • building warrant applications
  • raised platform payments
  • other invoices (sundry income).

Paying in instalments

Payment of business rates is normally due in 10 monthly instalments from May to February, and is due on the 7th of each month.


Other ways to pay

These are the ways you can pay:

Direct Debit

Direct debit as the most efficient and cost effective way to pay your business rates.

Deductions will be made from your bank or building society account on or just after the 7th of each month.

Online payments

You can pay your business rates using any UK bank or building society debit or credit card.

Make a business payment online

Phone payments 

You can pay over the phone using any UK bank or building society debit or credit card.

Call our Customer Services on 0300 300 0300:

  • Mondays to Thursdays 8.45am to 4.45pm
  • Fridays 8.45am to 3.55pm

If you are calling outside of these hours, select the option for automated payments, and you will be transferred.

This payment will be credited to the current year.

Standing Order

If you would like to use this option, contact the business rates staff on 0300 300 0202, and they will send you a Standing Order form. 

At collection offices 

You can pay at our Customer Services Centre in Renfrewshire House, Cotton Street, Paisley.

By post

Send you payments to the Director of Finance and Resources at the address shown on your bill.

Make sure you quote your reference number and the year your payment is for on all correspondence.

Cheques should be crossed "A/C payee only" and made payable to "Renfrewshire Council".

PayPoint and post offices

You can use your bar coded bill at your local council office, any UK post office, or in shops that display the PayPoint sign.

At the post office, the maximum you can pay in a single transaction is £999.99.
