Batteries

Single cell household batteries e.g. AA or AAA can be taken to collection points at any retailers where batteries are sold. Or they can also be recycled at our household waste recycling centres.

Please try to avoid using household batteries by buying solar powered equipment or using rechargeable batteries.

Did you know that shops who sell more that 32kg batteries a year (approx 345 x four packs of AA batteries) have to provide battery recycling collection facilities in store? This means there are now lots more places where you can take your old batteries for recycling. If you can't see a collection box, ask the shop assistant if they have one, some smaller shops keep the collection box behind the counter.
