Ferguslie Park regeneration project wins double at 2024 Scottish Homes Awards
Congratulations to our housing regeneration team on their recent awards success with AS Homes (Scotland) at the 17th Scottish Homes Awards in Glasgow
Topping both the Housing Regeneration Project of the Year and Large Affordable Housing Development award categories is a tremendous result, among prestigious competition celebrating the best in Scotland's new residential projects last month.
The Tannahill development, in Paisley's Ferguslie Park, is part of the ongoing community-led regeneration of the area and features 101 modern new-build energy efficient homes on the site of the former St Fergus Primary School. The project was supported by funding from the Scottish Government's affordable housing supply programme and delivered in partnership with housing developer, AS Homes.
With many of the re homed residents living in the area for a number of years, partnership and collaboration were integral to the successful delivery of the vision. Throughout the seven-year regeneration project, our officers carried out extensive consultation with tenants, owners and local groups which included public engagement events, local drop-in surgeries, newsletters and frequent text and calls, providing opportunities to comment and feedback on the regeneration of the area and address their concerns.
It's this proactive approach which has been recognised by the industry and follows a recent visit by Scottish Housing Minister, Paul McLennan MSP who toured the site and met delighted residents in their new homes.
Celebrating at the Scottish Homes Awards 2024
Jennifer Murdoch, housing regeneration manager (pictured centre) said, "We are delighted that the regeneration of the Tannahill area of Ferguslie Park has received this national recognition. The team have worked tirelessly to deliver on the promises made to the community and it's great to see them happy and settled in their new homes."
Martin MacRury, Housing Programme Manager (pictured left) added, "While this was a 'housing led' regeneration project, in reality, it really was community-led. Local people were clear on their own vision: they wanted a community to be proud of and one which was attractive and desirable to live in. Over the seven years, and despite the challenges of COVID-19, the regeneration team continued to consult and support the Tannahill community - from early decisions on proposals, site and house layouts, right through to moving day, welcoming them to their new homes while also retaining that existing sense of community. We're all very proud of what has been achieved so far."
