Proposals for one-way system in Gallowhill
We have developed proposals for a one-way traffic system in Gallowhill.
This is being proposed to make it easier for buses to navigate the route and would enable McGill's Buses to reinstate its No.64 service from Gallowhill through Paisley to the Phoenix Retail Park.
Route of the one-way system
The one-way system route follows the route of the former No.64 bus service known locally as the Gallowhill Loop.
It would start and finish on Netherhill Road travelling clockwise on:
- Dundonald Road
- Brewster Avenue
- Montgomery Road
- Netherhill Cottages
- Knowe Road
- Motehill Road
- Marjory Drive
One-way traffic signs would be displayed along the route and lit up to ensure visibility at all hours.
Benefits of the one-way system
Introducing the one-way system will benefit bus passengers by supporting the return of the No.64 service.
It will mean less distance for people with mobility issues to get on the bus.
Buses will be able to travel more efficiently around the route which will reduce delays.
There would be improved access for emergency vehicles and it will also improve traffic flow and road safety in the area for all road users.
