£2million to improve active travel routes in Renfrewshire

Our active travel team have been successful in securing more than £2million from Transport Scotland's Active Travel Transformation Fund for four projects in Renfrewshire.

Cyclist on Renfrewshire route The four projects are:

  • North Renfrewshire Active Travel route - shared walking and cycle route from Inchinnan Drive Roundabout to Glasgow Airport
  • 'Linside Link' active travel route - shared walking and cycle route from Hawkhead Road Estate to Seedhill Road
  • Paisley to Renfrew Active Travel Route - complete the 5km route from Gilmour Street Rail Station to Ferry Village in Renfrew
  • Gallowhill Link - creating an underpass using the disused railway line that will connect Gallowhill Road to the Paisley to Renfrew Active Travel Route

Stephen Heron, Assistant Transportation & Development Manager, said: "We're delighted to receive this funding for projects that will make a real difference for people walking, running, wheeling and cycling in Renfrewshire - including colleagues who commute to work.

"Work is underway already on the Paisley to Renfrew project, and we're preparing to start on the Linside Link, North Renfrewshire Active Travel route and Gallowhill Link soon once contracts are awarded."
