Let's talk about mental health

Helping to build a supportive environment for colleagues

With one in four of us likely to experience a mental health issue at some point in our lifetime, there has never been a better time to talk.

Conversations can change lives and we encourage our colleagues to make space to talk openly and raise awareness about mental health issues.

It's not about asking people to talk about a mental health problem if they don't want to. Instead, it is about helping create supportive workplaces where colleagues are comfortable talking and asking for help when they need it.

Help at work for you or your colleagues

Our free confidential employee counselling service is there to support you with work and personal issues that can affect your mental health 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You can:

  • call their helpline on 0330 202 0283
  • message someone on their live chat service
  • book counselling online

Visit the Time for Talking website or download the Time for Talking App to a mobile device to access counselling and other ways to support your mental health through videos, podcasts and other resources. There's also useful talking tips for approaching conversations with colleagues about mental health in a helpful way.

You can find lots of other useful information about mental health on our employee wellbeing hub.

Resources and training for managers

Our new Wellbeing Conversations e-learning course will help managers to support teams and have helpful one-to-one wellbeing conversations. You can find it under 'Leading People' in the Leadership and Management section on iLearn.

Colleague stories
