Where to go for money and debt advice
Where to find advice about money, benefits and debt if you live in Renfrewshire.
Renfrewshire Council's Advice Works Service and Renfrewshire Citizens Advice Bureau are working together to make sure everyone in Renfrewshire is making the most of their money and getting everything they are entitled to.
Money Worries
We know that worrying about money can have a big affect on people's lives. We also know that it can be difficult to take the first step to sort our your finances. Renfrewshire Council's Advice Works team and Renfrewshire Citizens Advice Bureau are encouraging everyone to get help with their money worries.
If you are:
- worried about paying bills;
- in arrears with any repayments;
- worried about paying rent or mortgage or for gas, electricity or Council Tax;
- being chased by people you owe money to;
- worried about heating vs. eating;
or you:
- need help budgeting your money;
- can't see a way out of your money worries.
If any of these sound familiar, call our friendly teams for an appointment. You may feel judged or upset that you are having money difficulties, but we can work with you to help take that weight off your shoulders.
Benefits
Advice Works and Renfrewshire Citizens Advice Bureau can also make sure that you are getting all the benefits you are entitled to, no matter your age or circumstances. Things like:
- Universal Credit
- Scottish benefits like the Scottish Child Payment or Best Start Grants
- Disability benefits like Attendance Allowance, PIP or Child Disability Payment
- Pension Credit
- Young Carer Grant (for 16, 17 and 18 year olds)
- Free School Meals or help to buy school clothing
- Council Tax Reduction
The friendly advisers can go through your personal circumstances with you and work out if there's anything else you can claim.
How to get help
Both organisations can offer appointments which will normally last around 60 minutes, and can normally take place by video or phone - your choice! The service is free and completely confidential.
