Coronavirus (COVID-19) support for the hospitality and leisure sectors

Grants, funding and financial support for hospitality and leisure businesses who lost bookings over the Christmas and New Year period or have had to put in place physical distancing and capacity limits.

Hospitality: December and January Business Support Top Up

The Scottish Government has allocated funding to support businesses in the hospitality sector who lost bookings during the Christmas 2021 and January 2022 trading period.

The December and January Business Support Top Up hospitality fund provides financial support to businesses in the hospitality sector affected by the latest public health advice.

This includes businesses registered as:

  • public houses 
  • restaurants
  • cafes
  • other licensed premises classed as hospitality
  • nightclubs
  • hotels with bars and restaurants.

How much you can get

The grant is a one-off payment at the rate of:

  • £4,500 for premises with a rateable value of up to and including £51,000, or
  • £6,800 for premises with a rateable value of £51,001 or above

How to apply

If your business already got financial support through the Strategic Framework Business Fund, we will contact you directly before the end of January 2022, we will contact you directly before the end of January 2022, using the contact details you previously gave us. We aim to make payments to eligible businesses as soon as possible.

  • you didn't get coronavirus (COVID-19) financial support for your business before 
  • your business has changed since the previous funding was offered
  • your business is new.

The closing date for applications is 5pm on Monday 31 January 2022.

Hospitality and Leisure: January Business Support Top Up

The Scottish Government has allocated funding to support businesses in hospitality and leisure who have had to put in place physical distancing and capacity limits from 27 December 2021.

If your business has been affected by these changes, you may be eligible for financial support.

How much you can get

For hospitality businesses, the grant is a one-off payment at the rate of:

  • £1,400 for premises with a rateable value of up to and including £51,000 or 
  • £2,100 for premises with a rateable value of £51,001 or above

For leisure businesses, the grant is a one-off payment at the rate of:

  • £2,100 for premises with a rateable value of up to and including £51,000 or
  • £3,150 for premises with a rateable value of £51,001 or above

How to apply

If your business already got financial support through the Strategic Framework Business Fund, we will contact you directly before the end of January 2022, using the contact details you previously gave us. We aim to make payments to eligible businesses as soon as possible.

There is support available from Scottish Government for other businesses affected by measures to control the spread of the Omicron variant of coronavirus (COVID-19) including:

  • wholesale food and drink
  • tourism
  • wedding supply chain businesses
  • creative freelancers
  • events.
