Mower funding is bringing results to Renfrewshire's grass cutting programme
We're seeing the results of a £240,000 investment in our improved grass cutting programme.
The investment has seen two new John Deere tractors, six zero-turn grass cutting machines, three sets of hydraulic triple units, two pedestrian flail machines and 12 self-propelled hand rotary machines available for the Council's grass cutting teams - which have also been enhanced with additional staff.
Combined with an improved approach which sees all grass cutting teams tackle one area of Renfrewshire each day, grassed areas in Renfrewshire are now being cut once every two weeks.
This includes cutting all open spaces, school playing fields, public parks, sports pitches and cemeteries, providing the grass assistance scheme for council house tenants and litter picking and sweeping the roads in the area too.
Hedge cutting is provided twice a year, with communities seeing your first cut between mid-May and mid-July and your second cut between mid-August and the end of September.
Councillor Cathy McEwan, Convener of Renfrewshire Council's Infrastructure, Land and Environment Policy Board, said: "It's been fantastic to see first-hand the new programme in action and it's clear to see it's making a noticeable difference to our communities.
"With the new programme and investment in new equipment, we're able to cut the grass quicker, more often and this is leading to our local areas looking great ahead of the summer.
"I want to thank the grass cutting teams for their commitment as the new programme beds in and congratulate them on the outstanding work they are doing for our communities."
