These road closures have now been lifted as work is complete.

Road closures to support Black Cart bridge installation

Road closures will be in place from Saturday 22 May 2021 to facilitate Glasgow Airport Investment Area contractor Wills Bros Civil Engineering as it installs a pedestrian and cycle bridge over the Black Cart.

To support the installation, road closures will be in place at the junction of the A8 Greenock Road, Inchinnan Road and Abbotsinch Road, with no through access for all road users, cyclists and pedestrians.

Closures are scheduled:

  • 6pm, Saturday 22 May to 6am, Sunday 23 May 2021
  • 3pm, Sunday 23 May to 6am, Monday 24 May 2021
  • 7pm, Monday 24 May to 6am, Tuesday 25 May 2021
  • 7pm Tuesday 25 May to 6am, Wednesday 26 May 2021
  • 7pm, Wednesday 26 May to 6am, Thursday 27 May 2021

The closures have been scheduled overnight to minimise disruption wherever possible and require to take place when there are no scheduled flights.

Due to the ongoing changes to Coronavirus travel restrictions, there remains a possibility the dates will be subject to change.

Advance notice and diversion signs are in place on impacted roads and closures will be lifted as soon as the work is complete.

We apologise for any inconvenience these closures may cause and ask you to please avoid the area during these times.

Diversion details

  • Travelling from Paisley, Abbotsinch Road will be closed (except for local and emergency access) from the roundabout at Arran Avenue.
  • Travelling from Renfrew, Inchinnan Road will be closed (except for local and emergency access) from the roundabout at Argyll Avenue, meaning no access over the Bascule bridge.
  • Travelling from Erskine, Bishopton and Inchinnan, Greenock Road will be closed at Inchinnan bridge, with signposted diversion routes in place from the Red Smiddy Roundabout.
