You can also get guidance and support if you're self-employed or a sole trader on the GOV.UK website including:
- claim a grant through the Self-employment Income Support Scheme
- self-employment and Universal Credit
- if you cannot pay your tax bill on time
- negotiate a mortgage payment holiday.
Financial support during coronavirus
If you are not working due to coronavirus, you may be able to claim benefits, get a reduction on your council tax or apply for funds to support you financially during the crisis.

Self-Employment Income Support Scheme
The Self-Employment Income Support Scheme supports people self-employed or a member of a partnership, with a taxable grant. The scheme has been extended and the online service to claim the fourth grant will be available from late April 2021. The fourth grant covers 1 February 2021 to 30 April 2021.

Newly self-employed hardship fund
This Scottish Government scheme offered a one-off £4,000 payment for those who are newly self-employed makes them ineligible for the UK Government's Coronavirus (Covid-19) Self-employment Income Support Scheme.
The deadline for applications has now closed.
