Health and safety measures in the workplace

Health and safety measures are in place for all our facilities, depots, bases and offices open for support care services and frontline teams. These measures may change as new rules or restrictions come into effect.

Make sure you follow the guidelines below and keep an eye on the posters and signage advising you of the current coronavirus safety measures at your workplace.

If you work in any council workplace, you should:

  • book a desk using the desk booking system (if appropriate)
  • use hand sanitiser provided
  • face coverings are optional, and we support anyone who wishes to wear one
  • clean and set-up your workstation
  • check in with the poster and desk QR code or use the link in your booking
  • observe the max usage signs in meeting rooms, kitchens, and breakout areas
  • maintain a respectful distance and give way to others
  • at the end of the working day, please clear and clean your workstation

See the current guidance for working at Renfrewshire House.

If you make home visits, follow the guidance for:

Coronavirus (COVID-19) safety posters for the workplace

If you're a manager or you look after a council building, premises, or educational setting, you can order these coronavirus (COVID-19) safety posters for your workplace:

  • Face Coverings - to go in prominent locations at the building entrance and various locations throughout the building
  • Respectful Distance Poster - to go in prominent locations at the building entrance and various locations throughout the building
  • Wash and dry your hands - to go in toilets and kitchen facilities
  • Please wash your hands - to go in toilets
  • Keep kitchen tidy - to go in kitchen and communal areas
  • Cleaning Materials - to go throughout the building within all office workplace areas
  • Desk not in use - where required
  • Be distance aware - to go in prominent locations at the building entrance and in toilet facilities
  • We're backing distance aware - to go in prominent locations
  • Maximum usage - to go on the door meeting rooms. These are laminated, wipeable posters so you can use a whiteboard marker to write the maximum number of people allowed for each room.

You can put the posters in place by using Blu Tack or pins. The posters are A4 size and in colour. They are not laminated, apart from the Maximum Usage poster, so you can recycle them when they are no longer needed.

You can order the posters on Skyline, our online printing service. If you haven't used Skyline before, you can register as a new user.

You can choose which posters you want and how many of each. You'll need a cost centre code when you place your order. When you place your order, you can choose to collect your posters or have them delivered to your workplace or school.

We aim to get your order processed and ready as soon as we can. If it is urgent, contact us at document.solution.centre@renfrewshire.gov.uk or call us on 0141 618 2588.

Enhanced cleaning regime in workplaces

There will be fewer shared facilities and more rules in place about how you use them, including:

  • enhanced hand sanitising and other hygiene measures
  • fewer desks will be available
  • meeting rooms will have less capacity
  • all surfaces, equipment, chairs and tables must be cleaned with the products provided in cleaning caddies, before you leave work.

Fire wardens

During the current situation, managers must make sure there is adequate fire warden cover in their areas and, if necessary, take on the responsibilities of fire wardens themselves.  Your local emergency evacuation procedures should outline the roles and responsibilities for fire wardens.

First aiders

Managers must make sure there is adequate first aid cover in their areas and, if necessary, take on the responsibilities of fire wardens themselves.

If you are a first aider, and you need to help a colleague who has symptoms of COVID-19 you should follow this first aid advice [158KB] .

If you or someone you know shows symptoms of COVID-19

If you or a close contact have symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19), you should follow the advice on the NHS Inform website

Travel to work

If you are driving to work, free parking is available at our car parks although spaces are limited.

If you live nearby and are able, we encourage you to walk or cycle to work wherever possible.

For the latest guidance on travelling within Scotland, check the Transport Scotland website.

Once at work, employees should ensure only essential journeys are made between work locations.
