UK Community Renewal Fund 2021 to 2022
The UK Community Renewal Fund 2021-22 is a UK Government fund designed to support communities and pilot a new, flexible approach to administering funding ahead of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, the replacement for EU funding programmes in the UK.
The Community Renewal fund is supporting projects which deliver:
- Investment in skills
- Investment for local business
- Investment in communities and place
- Supporting people into employment
Projects must align with long-term strategic plans for local growth, target people most in need and support community renewal.
Projects should have a minimum planned expenditure of £500,000 up to a maximum of £3million, be mostly or wholly revenue based, and be deliverable and financially compete by 31 March 2022.
Local authorities are the co-ordinating body for bids in their area and in Renfrewshire, we are responsible for publishing this information, receiving bids, selecting the final bids for the UK Government to consider, paying the grants to successful projects and managing their performance.

Assessment of bid proposals
A panel of Community Planning partner representatives is meeting on Monday 24 May to consider all applications for inclusion in the Renfrewshire area bid portfolio.
The panel will assess all bids against the assessment criteria set out in the UK Community Renewal Fund prospectus and consider the extent to which bids support the delivery of local priorities; test and develop new approaches to capturing new growth opportunities; and contribute to local strategic objectives.
Read more about our Council Plan and Renfrewshire's Community Plan.
If your application is successful, our staff will work with you to develop your project proposals further.
Funding confirmation
We will be submitting the final portfolio of Renfrewshire projects - up to a maximum of £3million - to the UK Government on Friday 18 June, putting forward the projects which most strongly meet the fund assessment criteria and local priorities.
Renfrewshire is not one of the 100 priority areas identified by the UK Government for support through this fund.
The UK Government will assess applications and advise of confirmed funding from late July 2021.
If Renfrewshire is successful in its funding bid, we will enter into a funding agreement with the successful bidders.
