Test and Protect in the workplace - Underwood Road, 2 September 2020

Letter sent to staff at Underwood Road, 2 September 2020

Dear Colleague,

I am writing to let you know that NHS Test and Protect are carrying out COVID-19 contact tracing at Underwood Road.

We have carried out a careful risk assessment to establish a list of close contacts and colleagues and who have been advised to self-isolate.

If you have not already been proactively asked to self-isolate or have not received a phone call and been advised to self-isolate by the Test and Protect Team, then you can be reassured that you are not identified as a close contact and you can continue to attend work as normal - unless you or anyone else in your household develop symptoms.

I am aware you may be feeling anxious about this development and I want to assure you that our risk assessment has confirmed we have control measures in place across the depot and I can also confirm that a further deep clean of certain areas was carried out last night as a precaution.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind you of the public health advice currently in place for everyone: if you develop symptoms of COVID19, please immediately self-isolate and book a test as soon as possible. You should also stay at home if someone you live with has symptoms. Please make sure you contact your manager as quickly as possible so that support and advice can be provided. The symptoms you should look out for include:

  • a high temperature or fever
  •  a new continuous cough
  • a loss of, or change in sense of smell or taste.

I would also like to remind you of the vital importance of continuing to observe the workplace rules on social distancing and other measures to prevent infection such as regular handwashing. If you are contacted by Test and Protect, please follow the advice and remember the council is here to support you.

Further information on COVID-19 including on what to do if you develop symptoms and how to access a test is available from NHS Inform:

And finally, my sincerest thanks for your ongoing support and commitment to deliver council services safely.
