Cochrane Castle COVID-19 testing site - letter to parents

Dear parent or carer

I am writing to you as a parent or carer of a child at Auchenlodment Early Learning and Childcare Class, Auchenlodment Primary School, Cochrane Castle Primary School, Fordbank Primary School, Johnstone High School, St David's Primary School, St Margaret's Early Learning and Childcare Class, St Margaret's Primary School or West Johnstone Early Learning and Childcare Centre.

As you may be aware, the Cochrane Castle area will be hosting a temporary COVID-19 testing site from today (Wednesday 14 July) for seven days.

The test site is for people who have no symptoms of COVID-19 and is being targeted at anyone who lives, works or goes to school in the Cochrane Castle area.

If you do have symptoms of COVID-19 please do not come to the Cochrane Castle testing site - book a test for one of the NHS-run sites instead.

The council has set the site up because analysis showed the area has had higher-than-average rates of the virus in recent weeks.

We know people can spread the virus without knowing they have it - so we encourage you and your family to get a test.

Doing so will help slow the spread of the virus and protect you and your loved ones, as well as the wider school community.

Anyone over the age of five can be tested - but parental permission is required.

The test site will be at Cochrane Castle Community Centre, 3 Burns Drive, Johnstone PA5 0HJ.

It will be open on:

  • Wednesday 14 July - 9am to 5pm

  • Thursday 15 July - 11am to 7pm

  • Friday 16 July - 9am to 5pm

  • Saturday 17 July - 11am to 3.30pm

  • Sunday 18 July - 11am to 3.30pm

  • Monday 19 July - 9am to 5pm

  • Tuesday 20 July - 9am to 5pm

You do not have to book in advance, please just drop-in any time during the times above. More information is on our website here.

Anyone who tests positive will be required to self-isolate but you may be eligible for financial support, including a £500 Self-Isolation Support Grant.

Your support is, as always, appreciated
