Repairs and improvements

The council offers two repair services to tenants: repairs to your home and repairs to stair and close lighting.

Report a repair to your home

You can report a repair by phoning 0300 300 0300 or you can e-mail your repair to the Customer Service Centre. If you e-mail your repair to us, please ensure you include your name, address and contact telephone number as well as details of the repair. 

The e-mail service should not be used to report emergency repairs.

If you have an Apple or Android smartphone, mobile device or tablet, you can also report non emergency repairs using the Ren Repairs App.

There is also a freephone repair reporting service available in the Customer Service Centres in Paisley, Renfrew and Johnstone during office hours. 

When you report a repair, please tell us as much as possible about the problem. You will also have to tell us:

  • your name
  • your address
  • your phone number;
  • when you will be at home, or
  • what arrangements you can make to let the repair service into your home.


As long as we have enough information to tell the contractor what they need to do, we will order the repair straight away. 

If we need to look at the problem before we can order the repair, we will arrange for someone to visit your home.

Emergency repairs

Some emergency repairs are available 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Emergency repairs will be attended to out with normal working hours only when:

  • there is a serious risk to health and safety
  • there is a serious risk to the structure of the property
  • the property is not secure

If a serious fault occurs outside of normal working hours, and it is not safe to wait until the next working  day, you should telephone 0300 300 0300. If the repair does not qualify as an out of hours emergency because it does not require immediate attention, you will be given an appointment for the repair to be carried out the following working day.

This will help our tradesman carry out the repair quickly.
