Choose Life provide advice, information, guidance and training to staff, carers and the community to help them support those who are suicidal and/or self harming. We can offer advice on appropriate responses and interventions as well as signposting on to specific services.
Our training programmes includes STORM (Skills Based Training on Risk Management), ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training), SafeTALK, Suicide TALK, Self Harm Awareness and Skills. We will tailor training to suit the needs of individual organisations and provide short presentations to teams or community groups seeking to learn more about suicide prevention and self harm interventions.

Why have Suicide Prevention Activities?
- In 2010 there were 781 deaths by suicide in Scotland (deaths from intentional self harm and events of undetermined intent). The suicide rate for males remains at around 3 times the rate for females.
- In the same period within Renfrewshire there were 27 deaths by suicide (24 male and 3 female) That means that every two weeks somebody in Renfrewshire took their own life.
