Does Christmas come around every year and you find yourself worrying about how you're going to afford it?

Putting a little away regularly is the best way of saving up for expensive things like a holiday, a car or even Christmas.

The Financial Services Authority's Money Made Clear website has information on the types of saving options available, how they work and where you can go to compare savings accounts.

You may also be interested to know that the Office of Fair Trading has produced a quick guide to paying for Christmas which comes in response to last year's collapse of the Farepak hamper company. The guide has information on the different types of Christmas savings schemes available and will help you choose an option that is right for you.

One way you can save is by joining a credit union.
