Supporting People is an integrated policy and funding framework for housing support services, which was introduced in April 2003. The aim is to provide good quality services, focused on the needs of users, that enable vulnerable people to live independently in the community, in all types of accommodation and tenure.
Councils have to produce Supporting People strategic plans for their area and send these to the Scottish Government for assessment. You can download a copy of this below.

It sets out our aims and objectives for housing support services in Renfrewshire and how these relate to other national and local priorities. The plan provides baseline information about housing support services, housing support providers, budgets and service users. The implementation of the supporting people scheme will be measured against this baseline data.
The strategic plan provides details of how the supporting people grant has been allocated across the various vulnerable categories, and the level of housing support services available to each group. It also projects the need for future housing support services associated with new developments, service redesign and the number of children with special needs approaching adulthood.
Consultation with service users, carers and providers is at the heart of the Supporting People programme, and wide-ranging consultation with all stakeholders was carried out. This consultation influenced the production of the final plan.
