Fostering

Fostering provides a safe, secure and nurturing environment for children and young people who are unable to live with their own families. While many children return to their own parents after a short period of fostering, others will be unable to go home and will move on to either permanent fostering or adoption.
Renfrewshire Council relies on foster carers to provide homes for around 200 children and young people, and we are always looking for more carers.
Foster caring can be a highly rewarding experience as it offers an opportunity to make a lasting difference to a child’s life. By becoming a foster carer, you will be helping a child to develop and achieve their potential, offering them the chance of a positive, brighter future. Our carers receive a weekly payment in recognition of the valuable work that they do, so foster care is now viewed as an alternative form of employment for many families.
